Female Genitals Latest Area for Surgeons to Nip and Tuck

Atlanta, GA (PRWeb) March 8, 2007 -- Atlanta-based Dr. John Miklos and his colleague, Dr. Robert Moore, are part of a growing number of surgeons across the country performing vaginal plastic surgery. "Women want to be tight," said Miklos, whose ads promoting tighter vaginas and more confidence are splashed all over upscale magazines and the Internet.

These procedures once were performed primarily on women who suffered incontinence, tears from birth traumas or painful abnormalities. But doctors claim that more and more patients ask for the surgery solely for cosmetic reasons. Why? Women believe what some doctors are saying: Vaginal tightening will increase their sexual satisfaction and improve their quality of life.

At issue is a specific procedure known by insiders as "Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation," or LVR. It was developed in the 1990s by a Beverly Hills gynecologist, Dr. David Matlock. The surgery involves tightening the vaginal muscles and support tissues, as well as reducing extra vaginal lining. Moore calls it a tummy tuck for vaginas.

Miklos said their patients come from all over the world and range in age from 14 to 75. He and Moore perform about 600 vaginal surgeries a year in their offices a few suburbs north of Atlanta. They specialize in LVR and labiaplasty, which entails labia reduction or reshaping.

The doctors' Atlanta Urogynecology Associates' Web site www.lvratlanta.com contains information and testimonials, as well as "before" and "after" pictures of surgically altered vaginal openings and labia. The men also have written a book, "Vaginal Rejuvenation: Vaginal/Vulvar Procedures, Restored Femininity."

Dr. John Miklos is the Director and Dr. Robert D. Moore is the Co-Director of the Atlanta Center for Laparoscopic Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Atlanta Medical Research Institute and the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of Atlanta. They are world renowned surgeons who have operated on patients from all over the US and the world. They are widely known throughout the world for their pioneering techniques in minimally invasive vaginal reconstructive surgery.
